LES MISÉRABLES CELEBRATES ITS 4500th PERFORMANCE ON BROADWAY FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 20th
Cameron Mackintosh's production of Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schonbergos Les Misérables will celebrate its 4500th performance on Broadway Friday, February 20th at the Imperial Theater (249 West 45th Street). Seen by over 6.5 million people in New York since it opened on March 12, 1987, Les Misérables is currently Broadway's fourth longest-running show of all time.
One of the greatest musical successes in history, Les Misérables has been seen by over 40 million people worldwide, with a total gross of over $1.8 billion. There have been 32 productions of Les Misérables, in 26 countries, in 15 different languages.
Based on Victor Hugo's classic novel, Les Misérables is an epic saga that sweeps through three turbulent decades of 19th century French history. The show is also the story of one man, the fugitive Jean Valjean, who is pitted against the cruel and self-righteous Inspector Javert, in a lifelong struggle to evade capture.
The cast of Les Misérables currently includes Robert Marien (Jean Valjean), Robert Gallagher (Javert), Juliet Lambert (Fantine), Nicholas Wyman (Thénardier), Fuschia Walker (Madame Thénardier), Peter Lockyer (Marius), Megan Lawrence (Eponine), Christeena Michelle Riggs (Cosette) and Stephen R. Buntrock (Enjolras).
