CRAIG SCHULMAN RETURNS AS 'JEAN VALJEAN' IN Les Misérables MONDAY, JUNE 27- MR. SCHULMAN HAS PLAYED THE ROLE OVER 1,300 TIMES; MORE THAN ANY OTHER ACTOR IN THE WORLD
June 13, 1994- Craig Schulman returns to the role of 'Jean Valjean' in the Broadway production of Les Misérables beginning Monday evening, June 27 at the Imperial Theater (249 West 45th Street). Mr. Schulman has played the role of 'Valjean' more than any other actor in the world. Since 1988, he has racked up an astonishing 1,306 performances, in 13 cities, in three countries; the United States, Canada, and most recently, in Singapore, as part of the national touring company's ground-breaking engagement there. In every city he has performed the role, Mr. Schulman has received unanimous critical praise, including Kevin Kelly of The Boston Globe who said, "Craig Schulman may just be the best Valjean of all." This will mark Mr. Schulman's fourth engagement with the Broadway company of Les Misérables.
Equally at home on the opera stage and musical theater, Mr. Schulman's credits include Hoffman in Tales of Hoffman,Don Jose in Carmen, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and Rudolfo in La Boheme. He has sung Che in Evita, the Caliph in Kismet, the Padre in Man of La Mancha and Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls. Mr. Schulman has appeared as both Count Danilo and Camille in The Merry Widow and has been a guest on "Guiding Light," "One Life to Live and "All My Children." He lives in Westchester County, New York with his wife and three children.
The Broadway production of Les Misérables also features Susan Gilmour as Fantine, Robert Cuccioli as Javert, Sarah Uriarte as Eponine, Craig Rubano as Marius, Drew Eshelman as Thenardier, Gina Ferrall as Madame Thenardier and Ron Bohmer as Enjolras.
The performance schedule for Les Misérables at the Imperial Theatre is Tuesday - Saturday evenings at 8:00 PM, Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2:00 PM and Sunday matinees at 3:00 PM. Beginning Monday June 20, Les Misérables' summer schedule will be Monday - Saturday evenings at 8:00 PM and Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 2:00 PM.
