Gemma Wardle

Gemma was a member of Oldham Theatre Workshop, and as a child appeared in many lead roles for BBC, Granada and Yorkshire TV.

Cast at 16 in the Manchester production of Les Misérables, she was then offered the role of Eponine in the West End at just 17 years old.

Gemma created the roles of Mrs Lester in Betty Blue Eyes (Novello Theatre) and Serena Katz in Fame (Cambridge Theatre). Other Theatre includes; Minnie in The Happy Prince (Place Theatre), Molly in Some Lovers (The Other Palace), Cinderella’s Mother in Into The Woods (Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre), Fairy Bowbells in Dick Whittington (Salisbury Playhouse), Mrs Darling in Peter Pan (Sheffield Lyceum), Angela in Up On The Roof (New Wolsey), Faith in The Naked Truth (UK Tour), Adele in Dreamers, Charity in Sweet Charity, Jo in Union Street, Fairy Bubbles in Jack And The Beanstalk (Oldham Coliseum), Miss Red in Shout! (Jermyn Street Theatre, London), and Carrie Pipperidge in Carousel (UK Tour).

On television, Gemma played the series regular roles of Chris Jacobs in Family Affairs, and Holly Painter in Wilderness Edge. Her numerous other credits include; Mrs Brown in Harriet’s Army, Nurse Judy in Life on Mars Series 2, Lydia in Supplies, and multiple appearances on both Holby City and Doctors.

Film Credits include; Emma- Louise in Victoria Wood’s Pat and Margaret (BBC), and Les Misérables (Universal Pictures).

Concerts: My Fair Lady (BBC Proms, Royal Albert Hall); Les Misérables 25th Anniversary Concert (O2 Arena), Friday Night Is Music Night (BBC Radio 2); Les Misérables 10th Anniversary Concert (The Royal Albert Hall) and Eponine at a private performance of Les Misérables at Windsor Castle for Her Majesty The Queen.
